Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended the Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she made the decision to become an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she was taught acting as well as singing. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played as the main character in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut film appearance came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the film that was most popular during 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the younger actors. The well-known British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her impressive performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
